dual mass flywheel

Featured Replies

had my dual mass flywheel replaced 10 months ago along with new clutch and release bearing. all this was covered under the warranty as i had only just bought the car. now 18k miles later the dual mass is clattering when drive is taken up. been back to skoda dealer where work was undertaken. they have turned round and said that because the work was done under warranty and i paid nothing for the replacement that there is no warranty available. are they trying to rip me off? i was under the impression new parts come with 24 month unlimited mileage warranty?

any help greatful thanks

the part itself should still be covered under warranty

citizens advice ?

trading standards?

I believe they are giving the official line, which is warranty repairs are covered until the warranty runs out.

If you pay for the parts there is an additional warranty.

so in other words im guna be £700 out of pocket :D

Surely this is covered by statutory rights?

As I understand it,(no expert!) your replacement flywheel etc... should be warranted for 12 months from the time of installation. This should apply regardless of the expiry of your three year manufacturers warranty.

£700 is a lot of money, surely worth a trip to the CAB or a phone call to a solicitor for advice?

Im guessing your vrs is standard?

18k from a new dmf is shocking, id be looking at your driving tbh! Mines had a dmf at 220bhp for a good 60/70k

Warranty law in the UK is a joke. If fitted under original warranty, parts are only covered till the end of the original warranty. If fitted outside warranty and paid for, normal service is resumed. :dull:

Lucky boy.

Entirely correct - as far as the law is concerned warranties are an optional extra. :( You can sometimes be covered by the Sales of Goods and Services Act, but most retailers will not acknowledge this, and wait until receiving a summons ...
