the beast's first outing!!

Featured Replies

I took the beast for her first proper outing last weekend (took the VRs as well! )

Went to Boulogne for a bit of a booze cruise, and covered a huge amount of miles in four and a half hours (im not tellin how fast i was going. Ive got snooper now you know!! )

Pretty much the same on the return leg, an averaged 32mpg overall which aint bad considering what I have been getting previously. (although 99% this journey was motorway at XXmph)

What did strike me though, and in a major way, this was the first time the beast had been out at night, (she scares the locals  ) and i have to say that the illumination from the standard head lights is absolutely p*ss poor!

I know i was tired but my eyes weren't that bad .

Anyone offer any recommendations as to which improvement would be best for this, (apart from 6 x 2 million candle spotlights mounted on the bonnet!!)

Apart from not being able to see where I was going (and the cd magazine being very tempremental, which aint best when yr tired in the early hours of the morning and SWMBO keeps saying 'its ok, we'll just listen to the radio!') it was a very pleasurable journey, and a new feeling not to be overtaken by many things!!

I'd recommend Philips Vision+ bulbs myself. Or perhaps some Osrams?

Glad you had a good trip

in a non patroising voice 'are you headlights clean??' if you did loads of miles, in these conditions it dont take long for them to cover up... especially on motorways

the lights on my octy seem very good...

Gald you like it tho

i think most owners find the lights completely useless

130w bulbs cure it

Yeh,

I moved up to some Philips bulbs within days of buying my Octy vRS.

Nip over to www.powerbulbs.com and order the phillips vision + h4 IIRC.

20 or so of your best pounds and about 10 mins, transforms the lighting for dipped driving, legally....full beam, well thats open to discussion.

Got Silverstars myself...much better than standard but am contemplating getting some of the Phillips Rallye (90/100).

I think the lights on my Octy are brilliant :)

Whoops, I've got Xenons :D:D:D:D:D:rofl:

Osram silver stars here to... give much improved vision at night and a nice white clear light...

hmmm a cheap mod i hadn't thought about...
