Starter motor gone on VRS

Featured Replies

Ok so pulled into tesco, quick 30 sec stop to get some cash... Wouldn't start after that, called out the AA - starter motor has gone. Started up fine after a very short tow, good job I live on a hill, can get a hill start in the morning.

But, what's this going to cost me to sort out? How much are we looking at for a starter motor?

Anybody recommend any garages anywhere around the north Manchester area? There's a Skoda dealers literally down the road, but I'm assuming that'll be an expensive route...

Think you looking at about £100 for starter motor, try a search think it was Bodge who did a fitting guide, if yoy fancy doing it yourself.

Did the starter on my TDI octi a few months back - the starter cost me about £100 from eurocarparts, and took about an hour to replace.

First remove the battery, and battery tray

Remove the cables from the starter

Remove the 2 or 3 bolts holding the starter in

Remove starter

Reverse of above to fit new one
