Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Picked up my brand new Ocatvia Vrs a couple of weeks ago and had a bit of trouble activating the cruise control. After re-reading the manual I concluded that the cruise control was either faulty or I was using it completely wrong. Took the car into the dealer today for a check over, and it seems that the cruise control switch is indeed faulty and a part has been put on "back order" whatever that means?!

Bit disappointed that a brand new car would have this sort of defect, and just wondered if anyone else had experienced problems?

Dirt affecting the contacts on the cruise control switches after a few years' use is very common and can be fixed by just cleaning the contacts. If this is a new car it's probably a genuine fault. I hate driving anything without cruise control now, so it's definitely worth having.

I had a fault with the throttle pedal on a brand new fabia I bought 3 years ago, and appreciate that it is frustrating and a little disappointing when things don't work.

On the flip side, thinking about all of the seperate parts in your car, for only one of them to be faulty is pretty impressive overall! :)

P.S if the part is on back order, it means that they have run out of stock of them, probably because you are not alone with this fault and they are waiting for stock to fix yours.

Having a similar problem with my 2005 Octavia. CC works some days and not other. Realise this has been dealt with before but as a newcomer to the forum I wondered how easy is it to actually open the switch to get at the contacts? Are the contacts accessible and what do you clean the contacts with?
