"It's a petrol engine... obviously"??? Pffft!

That "editor" didn't seem to know much about cars. "I suppose it isn't available with a manual because a manual gearbox couldn't handle the torque/power of the engine." Ha-ha, from a turbocharged supercharged 1.4?!?! Genius!

IMO Skoda have sacked their steering wheel design person - don't like the one on the Octy FL vRS either...

I'd not worry about it being for me as I'll never own a fabia.

I noticed that comment as well. I agree, what a load of balls! Having said that it exactly what my dealer said when I asked about a manual version a few months ago. The Mk2 vRS has 250 NM (184 lbft) and the mk1 vRS has 250 lbft (339 Nm).

From what I have read, it is the other way round. The problem with the DSG box is, it is limited to max 250Nm torque. You can buy a Golf with the same engine, but with a 6 speed manual box.

Mk1 vRS has 228 lb/ft for the record Jim...

Yes that's the official manufactures figures. Mine has 250 lbft and 142BHP (bog standard).

Anyhoo, going to the local stealers tomorrow for the official launch. I'll report back later

Not even one with a new chassis and petrol power (in the future)?

Right, went to the dealers in Maidstone to see the little pocket rocket.

They have done a nice display of vRS's in the showroom with the Ferbi in the middle (green with a black roof and the silver and grey shadow alloys) The vehicle won't be going on the road till next Thursday (my birthday :p ) but they are taking bookings for test drives.

If you are aware of the current Ferbi2, the size is just the same with the obvious vRS styling. The dash board is modern with a different style stereo, maxidot dispaly, vRS embossed cloth sport seats which are very comfy!!. The flapy paddles are nicley located on the stearing wheel. Day run lights are 4 LED's which are also the front fog lights

The whole build quality and finish of the car feels and looks fantastic. Mrs Stig (SWMBO) can't wait to drive it, but we'll wait for a while before booking the test drive ;)

The sales manager was willing to give out loads of info about the car, but wasn't pushy with regard to "getting the sale", which was a refreshing change.

And I walked away with a possiable detailing contract............ ;)
