Umbrella

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Had a Superb 1 and the kids loved the umbrella in the door.

Just ordered a new superb SE, is the umbrella still fitted?

I read somewhere on here that it had been deleted.

The car in the showroom still has its umbrella, I know it is not a deal breaker but what else has been deleted without anyone knowing?

Thanks

Umbrella not listed in the Brochure effective from 25 th May 2010

As of the May 25th brochure the only changes (from the April 1st brochure) are:

S

Looses the Interior door handle illumination,

Looses the umbrella in rear door

but gains the Glasses storage compartment.

SE

Now has the Interior door handle illumination (that used to come as std on all spec's)

Looses the umbrella in rear door

Elegance

I ordered my Superb Elegance on 25th May and after reading this topic I have asked my dealer today if the umbrella will be included and the reply was an resounding "NO - they were deleted on all orders in May" He also added the old favourite "...of course they can change the specification at any time without notice".

Nice one Skoda - that's how to treat customers! Now they are becoming just like all the other manufactureres.

Agreed that it's truly daft of Skoda to delete one of the car's nicest and most distinctive features. However, the dealer can still order an umbrella to fill the hole that remains. Worth doing, too, as it's a nice little brolly.

If ordering a car now, I'd tell the dealer that I expect the umbrella for free - just like a set of mats. If, like me, you're caught by the spec change since ordering, then it's no harm asking the dealer for a freebie or some other deal. My dealer let me have it for free even though I only asked after the car was delivered and offered to pay for it. Take a bow, Colbornes of Woking!

Could be worse, while I was deciding which car to purchase, the Ford Modeo was top of my list. Fist dealer 3 miles from me wanted a £500 depsoit before I culd have a test drive. When I found it was non-refundable I told them what they could do with that idea :o This wasn't isolated to a single dealer.

They may change the spe without warning but still better than the other manufacturers I was looking at before placing my order in June.

However, the dealer can still order an umbrella to fill the hole that remains. Worth doing, too, as it's a nice little brolly.

I thought same, but reconsidered when they asked 50 euro for the friggin umbrella. I found it outrageous since it was supposed to be coming with my elegance spec, and didn't.

I really bugged me that they'd had it removed. Frustrating cheapness.

I agree with the cheapness point, but the price of the umbrella should still be negotiable I think. Any dealer trying to charge me for the umbrella in these circumstances would need surgery to get the umbrella back out...

Tell them, when ordering, you want one at no extra cost! Any dealer worth their salt will bung one in to sell a high value car! If you saw the extra's I got on my Fabia, you would want even more, considering the Superb is a top end model!
