coilovers on a budget vrs mk1

Featured Replies

I have recently had my hours at work cut right back which sucks cos my octavia is getting to a stage in its life where it needs some attention. having just passed through 100k the handling is starting to get very soft and bouncy and i know the shocks are shot, ideally i would like to replace them with height adjustable coilovers which should work well with the powerflex bushes i fitted last month.

trouble is, everywhere i look im getting prices of 700-900 or more.. and im positive there are cheaper variants out there.

if someone can give me some advice on where to look, or knows someone selling some 2nd hand i would be really greatfull as i dont think i can handle driving at 40mph or less everywhere for fear of bottoming out :(

cheers

AmD in Essex have got me some Weitecs for £450 and fitting them next week for £100. They also do AP coilovers too which are a bit cheaper.

You can get coilovers for £250-300 and fit them yourself, I can't remember the names of the makes but people on here have posted asking about them. Not sure on the quality though.

If you go to a large tuner they might be able to do a finance deal on coilovers like some do on wheels i.e. £200 a month over 4 months or something like that

thank-you both.. ive heard of amd before.. didnt they used to be big boys toys or something like that?

im kinda stuck in the middle.. i believe in the 'buy cheap, buy twice' theory, so ideally id want to buy a good set.

i was talking to jkm yesterday about the weitec suspension, it works out the same price and aparantly they are pretty much the same as kw varient 1 but not stainless steel so will rust at some point.

anyone want to supply me with the lottery numbers haha

KW own both AP and Weitec with AP being the starter range and Weitec being the mid.

Give us a shout if you'd like us to talk you through some options or for more info.

I would say give Damian a shout. if you are on a budget look at the AP or Weitecs. nice setup nice price.

Other than that you are looking at Ebay jobbies
