Hey guys just wanted to see if anyone has had any experiance with the VAG COM cables currently being sold on ebay. they tend to come with the cable, driver and VCDS lite which from what i gather is a freeware program for running engine diagnostics. Apparently you can do a range of things with this from setting new radio keys, resseting and clearing ECU cache right the way to flashing new MAPs on the ECU.

any comments would be appreciated

VCDS (the genuine interfaces and the eBay jobbies) cannot read or change the radio code, neither can it flash the ECU with new maps.

It is however a very powerful tool that lets you diagnose and change many other settings (at least the genuine interface can, the eBay cables can be very hit and miss)

do you know where i can get a good cable without it costing the earth

the vcds lite is a very limited program ive found and is worth the extra for the full program in my opinion. pm sent
