How much loss in three months?

Featured Replies

...25% loss from driving off the forecourt is not a myth, it is a fact of life for new car buyers...

ONLY if it had been registered. Until that happens this is a brand new zero-owner, high in demand car, thus leaving very many options open to the dealer and the buyer.

It will be interesting to see the dealers opinion on Monday.

Either way, it's a Red 1.2 DSG SE Yeti, with:

Dimming mirror and rain sensor,

Light assistant/daytime running lights,

Lumbar support for front seats,

Spare Wheel.

Front and Rear parking sensors.

Hopefully I didn't go overboard on the spec.

Just in case anyone is interested... ;)

Should in in during August, so will be fresh on a 60 plate for 1st September.

No point registering before really, as it'll only look new for a couple of weeks.

Precisely. I think that CT17 should be able to sort this. Put yourself in the place of the guy covering in the absence of the owner and you can see why he is likely to be reluctant to commit his boss in circumstances that don't crop up everyday.

The spec ordered sounds like it will be very easy to sell on. All of the options are sensible and add rather than detract from it. Roll on Monday!

I can't see that struggling to find a home, especially with DSG. Wonder what the dealer is afraid of? They probably have it counted towards their quarter three target!

The dealer's price will be interesting if he is selling from stock.

Last three items on the extras list would suit me fine.

PM me if you like, but off-line until 11th August.

The thread question was "how much will it lose if I run it for 2 months?"

If it never leaves the forecourt, then of course the dealer can sell it full price; assuming the paperwork hasnt already been registered.

Yes, when I asked the original question I thought I'd have to take delivery.

I didn't know you could get the dealer to keep it, or get another dealer to take it, or find a buyer who is looking for a bargain and will still be owner number one.

So at least I have more options that I thought...

Dealer had already agreed to hold registration for a week or two, so it'll be a 60 plate September car.

H e may not, but if you are serious about going for the other spec it is worth trying.

You will almost certainly lose any deposit you have made though.

Just to update... in case anyone is interested.

We thought long at hard about it. Then changed our minds umpteen times.

The dealer was happy enough to change the order at minimal cost.

But... we decided to keep the Range Rover for a bit (as it's five years old now, depreciation has dropped a lot to about 3 or 4k per year) and use the Yeti as planned. A 2nd car to replace the nearly seven year old Fabia.

As the 2wd SE with the options was coming to about 16k discounted and the one we wanted if it was to be the main car with most of the options was (discounted price) coming to 24k it became hard to justify 8k more for the same car, just to get 4x4 and more toys (but still less than the RR). As the TSI and Diesel 140 have about the same economy.

So we will have the Yeti and a 4x4, as we need 2 cars.

I went down to the dealers today, the Yeti is just in. Complete with window sticker and plastic wrap to protect it.

Just waiting until 1st September now, so it can get the new registration code and be ours.

Thanks for the update,

glad to hear you got things sorted in the end. The long wait for a new car can often throw up a lot of what ifs, maybes and have we done the right thing type thoughts :S

Oh nice colour choice for your Monster by the way :)

Regards,

TP

Glad you've been able to make a final decision and hope you will still feel its the right one when the deal is done.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it as the spec is virtually identical to what I would like to get.

In fact I was rather hoping this Yeti might become available.

Oh well, roll on 2011, which is about the earliest a new order would be delivered.

Good luck!
