vRS TDi - order to delivery in under 4 weeks!

Featured Replies

Amongst all the lengthy delays that seem to be happening on orders, there is the occasional good news story.

I placed my order on 28th June:

- Candy white vRS TDi

- maxidot

- auto lights/mirror/wipers

- rear parking sensors

- full size steel spare

Original estimate on delivery was 12-14 weeks, so sometime in October. Got a call from the dealer second week of July - I was expecting to be told there was going to be delays, but to my surprise it was great news - they'd found an unallocated car built and waiting at Emden. Just over a week later it was at the dealership and I collect this Friday! It seems their sales manager gets in early to rummage around the stocklist on the system. They'd managed to find a order destined as a dealers car for the same specification - so grabbed it.

Now how blinking good is that?

The dealership - Sinclair in Swansea - have been superb throughout, can highly recommend them. They even sent me pics when it arrived!

Can't wait to pick it up on Friday now!!

and by the way . . . . . it's come with mats!!! (MY11)

Are you sure that wasn't already in stock somewhere - mine took approx 2 weeks from Factory to Dealership alone.

Yes it was in stock at Emden awaiting shipping to UK

"In stock"

Probably a cancelled order, as why would the factory be building cars that nobody has ordered when most people are waiting 12+ weeks?

Just check all your options are actually on the car when you pick it up - there may even be others that you did not request

Either way providing it has at least what you ordered then it's a win win

I'd be excited about having the new car, but i'd also be tempted to get them to keep it for the new Reg.......

Yeah I did toy with this but need a car for holidays in August, so it would have meant hiring.

It'll have been a stock order. From factory to dealer usually takes 3-4 weeks.

That's interesting James, but it does beg the question: if the factory can deliver a 'stock' car (with added options) in 4 weeks then why does it take 3+ times longer for a non 'stock' ordered car to be delivered?

Excellent, mine came through Sinclair and it was a long old wait due to the fact of specify everything from scratch, i'll wave your car hello on the way home tonight , say hi to martin if you see him when you go to collect

After waiting 16 week now! I have asked the dealer to do just this as getting the car registered 2-3 weeks before the new reg seems silly.

Yeah mine was at Emden too, I was too impatient so ended up getting one filled with toys that was already built :giggle:

A thumbs up for Sinclair from me too. They dealt with my order very well and am very pleased with the car.

I doubt they would have kept the car nearly 6 weeks to the start of Sept for the new reg. They may have delayed it a week or so if it came in mid August but not going to do this from mid July.

i was told that the skoda start wanting money off the dealer for the car when it leaves in the compound in the uk to the dealers, so you can see why they dont mind a week or two but any longer and thats a lot of money with interes mounting up

Heee thanks! I dealt with Ben and Andy the sales manager. Decent chaps though.

Collecting the car Friday lunchtime so you'll see me taking it for a spin on the Gower in the afternoon!
