Does anyone remember when they bought a new fabia what the metal tag on the keyring refers to? I thought it was the number to get a new key with, my dealer's receptionst say not. Mine has one letter and four numbers on it.

I think it's around sixty quid for the fob a new key blade around forty quid for programming it you are at the mercy of the dealer.

I believe the code can be retrieved from the dash panel using VAG-TACHO, and I think Vag-tacho can also do the key coding.

If you have the code you can reprogramme the keys with VCDS.
