Clutch pedal vibration

Featured Replies

I have a late 94 Fabia vRS witth 82k on the clock.

I've owned it 3 months and recently i've noticed a vibration through the clutch pedal. Im not sure if it has always done it or i've just noticed and now its all i think about.

If i push it in slightly while idling its vibrates. push it in halfway it stops, bit further vibrates again and flat on floor it stops again.

Is this normal or is my flywheel knackered? So far i havent noticed any slipping of the clutch.

Also any other things to look out for and any tests or anything i can do to check it.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I am assuming its a 2004? not a 94! As for the vibration, all the vRS's that I have driven vibrate through the clutch pedal, i think its pretty normal with this engine, most VW TDi's have a certain amount of vibration through the clutch pedal. Also the noise/vibration will change when you push the pedal in and out as you engage/disengage the clutch.

Ah sorry, yes it an 04 :giggle: .

The vibration does seem quite bad. Just seems worse than i expected a " normal " vibration to feel and to any other cars/vans i've driven although none were a vw tdi to be fair.

Maybe its fine and i'm just worrying about nothing.

If you've not noticed any other issues than it's most likley fine.

I went from a petrol fabia to a diesel and noticed the vibration through the pedal, though would describe it more of a quick pulse.

Yea, I suppose it does feel like a quick pulse.

It appears to pulse to the ticking over of the engine.

Yeah, it will do, as your feeling the engine com-bust the fuel in each cylinder through your foot (please, someone correct me if i'm wrong? Or even confirm i'm right?) but it's about 66 times a second at tick over.. so 66 pulses per second?

Any noise?? If it chatters your flywheel does sound as if its dying

Mine has vibrated since I got it at 51k miles. Still does it now at 62k miles. I think it's interference from the DMF, or at least that's what I concluded last time I looked in to it, and it's perfectly normal.

Can any of those with a SMF confirm if they still have the vibration through the clutch pedal or not?

No havent noticed any strange noises as yet.

What kinda noises should i be listening out for that would indicate something not being right.

A hollow rattling sound when at idle with the clutch out.

I have owned a Bora TDi and that wasnt too bad, but my Mrs's Beetle TDi vibrates/throbs a fair bit through the clutch pedal, and has done since we have had it (since 20k), I do notice this a lot more with the Fabia (all of the ones I have driven including my own), and as far as I am concerned you have a small car with a big capacity diesel engine in it (and lets be fair they are not the smoothest/quiestest of diesels) , and you are going to get vibrations through the clutch pedal. Fact of life.

I my opinion, I wouldnt be worrying about it as long as your flywheel isnt clattering. ;)
