air con to Dual zone climate control

Featured Replies

as it says how easy or difficalt is it to change from standaard air con to air con to Dual zone climate control

Do you mean on the same car ? I would say almost impossible or at the very least certaintly not worth it.

Prohibitively expensive unfortunately. Costs of up to £4k for the parts have been mentioned previously.

YES IT WAS ON THE SAME CAR

WELL I THINK THAT ANSWERS MY QUESTION TO & COST TO MUTCH MONEY

THANKS GUYS FOR A QICK RESPONCE :thumbup:

As mentioned.

I looked into this a while back and you are looking at the following

New Compressor to take into account the difference in fan speed

New Fans - yours has 4 speed and the dual zone is about 9 from memory

New Wiring Loom - To control everything

New Control Unit - on the dash obviously

New AirCon Control Module - to account for differences

New Vents - Yours are controlled by cable and the Dual Zone are motorised

New Jumbo Box - to direct air to the back

New Piping to lead to Jumbo Box vents - You don't have them installed

I stopped asking question when the cheapest quote was over £4k. Even if you could get all the parts cheap (say from a car written off in a rear end shunt) you would need someone to do all the work and your prob looking at around £1k in labour as the whole dash has to come apart and the centre console. Not to mention replacing the air con compressor

So unless your first name happens to be Sheik then i'd say it isnt worth it

Why is the compressor different and the fans? Wonder why they needed to be changed? Also where is the control module ? i thought it was in the controls part of the AC

Fans are diff as the dual zone has nine speeds iirc (will check on the slingshot tomorrow). Also diff to diff temps being able to be managed either side of cabin.

Compressor is diff as it has to be able to pump out separate temps (up to 3 degree diff either side of cabin) plus control the extra fan speed.

Control module is similar to the Central Elec Control module. It may well be in the actual dash controls but it was a part that was listed when I enquired.
