Fabia Conked Out

Featured Replies

Hi. I have an '04 Fabia, 1.2 petrol. I have never had any problems with it whatsoever in the three years of ownership. It was serviced about 2,000 miles ago. Today I started it, and the Engine Management symbol remained lit on the dash. I turned the engine off and tried to restart and it wouldn't. After 7 or 8 attempts and a LOT of revving it did start just about but conked every time I took my foot off the accelerator. Then on the 10th attempt, it started perfectly and the engine light went out. I have driven it for 2 hours tonight perfect. Could this be a glitch? Or is it warning me of something about to go wrong? Any advice appreciated. Thankyou. John.

You need a code scan mate. Could be something like the engine speed sensor on it's way out.

2nd the code scan, it's the only way :) If you have a laptop you can buy a cheap vag-com or vcds-lite cable from ebay - only thing is you can only see the first error code decoded. If I remember correctly though it gives the code numbers but not their meanings, so you can get on the net and search for the codes to find out what they mean.
