Towing and Blown fuse - common occurrence...

Featured Replies

Just a tip for anyone in a mk.2 experiencing towing lights failure...........

Am on my 2nd Occy Vrs mk.2 and both have been fitted with a towbar.

Both cars were wired by a different towbar fitter, so i need not believe it was human error when wiring............. but..............

What i have experienced (on occassions) is that whilst towing, with electrics plugged in, sometimes a fuse will blow and there are 'NO' towing electrics whatsoever.

Checked inline fuse at point of install - nothing.

Checked interior fusebox and engine compartment fusebox too - again, nothing!!

And here'sthe answer (how or why, i have no idea) but if you realise that your stereo has also ceased powering up, then you need to remove the stereo and replace the mini 10 amp (red) fuse in the back of the stereo.

Thought this experience of mine, may help others who tow regularly and it would be appreciated if anyone reading this, can shed some light on the reason/s why?? Cheers all.

The fuse in the radio will have nothing to do with the towbar wiring or visa versa !

If the radio fuse blows then it is to do with the radio and if you have a Amp then poss that.
