Annoying noise between 1700-2100 revs

Featured Replies

I cant really explain this one too well, but is only noticeable when driving along slowly, 10-15 mph. It's like and echoey vibration that sounds like it could be from the tyres, but have noticed today that it only happens between 1700-2100 revs, so it's got me wondering what it is. Is it possibly something to do with the suspension?

It drives me mad, but my wife said she cant hear anything.

Sorry for being so vague, feel like I'm asking how long a piece of string is!

flywheel?

Yeah for some reason that crossed my mind, but tbh I'm just guessing.

The 6 speed gearbox is prone to slight noise on over run between those revs. Fairly common and nothing to worry about. After 50K suspect wheel bearing.

Hmm, have 56k on the clock. Might pop into the dealer with in next week. My gut instinct tells me something to do with wheels, bushes or suspension. A bit premature but are bearing expensive to sort out?

About £120 a side mate.

Yeah after reading up on bearings I think thats what it might be. £120's not too bad, but have 1yr mechanical warranty from the Skoda dealer I bought it from, hopefully that will cover whatever happens to be wrong. Thanks ;)

Got the car booked in for next Tues at the closest nominated AA Warranty repairer, if it's the bearings then they are covered by the policy :)

Oh well, had my car into the approved repairers for the AA warranty that was provided with the car I got from the Skoda dealer.

Turns out the rear axle is buckled! I was aware there had been some accident repair to the rear of the car, but the car was Skoda approved and had been inspected by the AA before I collected it, so assumed all was ok.

Bit pee'd off atm, just waiting for the Sales Manager to call me back to say what they are going to do about it.

Possibly been jacked up using the beam of the rear axle. Common error with certain tyre fitting outlets.

Never thought of that. Makes no difference really. The sales manager called back after I left for work, said he was going to call me back in the morning. I'm half expecting them to try and get out of taking responsibility, if that's the case I'm gonna fight it all the way, will be in contact with Skoda UK first and then a solicitor. Fingers crossed they agree to sort it and save any hassle.

It's frustrating cos I bought the car as Skoda approved assuming that it had been thoroughly checked out.
