Looking to buy - Autobox "Limp Mode"

Featured Replies

Not sure abut the gearbox but looking atall those leaves in the engine bay I would be tempted to check for the dreaded water ingress problem as well.

Car ain't worth jack tbh, it looks nice, and probably is, but there is a 2k box to factor in, in good running order it would be worth £2500 max due to age, it's also a dirty car so tax is high, again lowering it's desirability, the guy selling would do best to break it, and as for buying it's gonna be a dear one at £500 sadly.

If the box were that easy to fix, then you would think that an ebay seller who is a dealer would have already done so. Thats quiet an old car at 8 years and must be one of the first in the uk. With that spec it may have been ex. demo or simillar. The V6 engine is quiet an old design and is not that quick and is very thirsty.

Thank for replying.

MPG and tax not an issue. prefer V6's having had the unrefined 130tdi lump. Repairs are not a major problem, eg water ingress etc. My main concern was whether this is likely to be a major box fault eg £2k or a service/low fluid issue? which needs to be reflected in the bid I put in. Otherwise I 'm back on a late Omega or something else. Just miss my old Superb.

if you could get access to the car, and also a diag tool then you could scan the car for faults. The limp mode could have any number of causes, and the easiest way is to scan the box for faults with Vag-com or simillar.
