Coolant light on all the time!

Featured Replies

Hello all

Have a problem with the coolant light being on all the time, so with advice of many I changed the coolant bottle.

With the bottle changed the light is still coming on with in 20 seconds of the ignition turned on!

Now thinking back to when we brought the car it had a fault where the coolant light was on all the time and the fuel gauge did not work, I traced the fault to a brown wire with a white trace coming out of the fuel tank, assuming it was an earth wire I cut it and run a new wire from the tank to a new earth using one of the seat belt anchors. I left what was left of the chopped wire in the loom, this seemed to work and light went off and fuel gauge started working.

The light come back on not long after and has always puzzled me until I become aware of the coolant bottle issue which I thought would have solved it!

I have noticed that the brown wire with white trace I chopped at the tank may be the same wire or linked to that wire goes into the coolant bottle, I think where I have chopped it and left the old wire in the loom not connected or earthed the coolant bottle sensor is not reading?

Can anyone with a wiring diagram please confirm that there is a wire linking the fuel tank to the coolant bottle sensor please.

The car is a 2002MY Fabia 1.4 16v 100ps.

Hope this has made scene and all help and advice would be much appreciated!

Luke
