Can anyone help

Featured Replies

I'm having mulitple problems with the door electronics on my 53 plate 1.9tdi octavia.

The drivers door does not look or unlock with the remote

The drivers side mirror does not work on the switch but works the passenger side from both positions

The windows do not work correctly on the switch unit

This all started earlier in the year when we had alot of wet weather to the point where the doors unlocked and the windows opened during a rain storm ended up with very wet car

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

You probably got water in the switches. It's a pretty easy job to remove the drivers door switch panel & clean it up or you could just buy another one on ebay as there are always a few for sale. Same goes for the door mirror switch.

In the door on the window reg there is a black box with a multi plug & the connections get corroded due to water, this will be more than likely your problem. It happened to my car and I need to change the box and multi plug.

I am with jpd on this one, water ingress into the main plug on the window motor assembly in the drivers door, or maybe an earthing fault if nothing on the drivers door works...

Does the red alarm/lock LED flash?

Does the door open light come on (at the bottom of the door)?

I've just stripped down the window switch box as my auto windows didn't work. There was corrosion & muck on all the switch contacts, but after a good clean with contact cleaner soaked cotton buds it's all working properly again.

BTW. You'll need a T6 torx bit to get the back off the black box.
