What alarm is this ?

Featured Replies

hi

please have a look at photos below and help me identify my car alarm.

I need to find the Service Manual for it because there are times when it starts howling for no reason.

Looking at the size of the siren I am guessing the problem is that the backup battery is dying. Typing the brand spyball into google does not find much, so I am guessing removal may be the easiest option.

 thank you for answering.

in fact I ended opening my alarm and I saw a small-barrel-type battery (about 2" long and 3/4" in diameter) but I had no idea I have to replace it for not getting problems anymore.

I will post new inside photos because apart backup battery there are some DIP switches that I don't have a clue what they do.

please stay tuned.

It does look like a very old alarm, and is not a brand name I recognise. I would expect things like the battery are proprietry and if the company is no more then getting spares will be impossible. Same with the service book, if indeed one ever existed. With an alarm I wouldnt think anything that may aid a thief was ever available. As suggested by anewman, removal and and replacement maybe a much cheaper option.

I found out that SPYBALL is the brand of this alarm. SPYBALL company was bought a few years ago by COBRA alarms manufacturer so I might have some luck getting that service manual.

Anyways, here are few more photos as promised. My interest would be in those DIP switches functionality and maybe those 2 variable resistors.

On the other hand, what minimum voltage should have the backup battery ?
