Not technically minded so no idea :( But you did say that the car was 225 when you bought it - could that have a bearing on the issue, or have other modifications been made to it as well ?

ffelan blew a diff.. you say "racing" but I suspect it was not put to the uses the red baron was.. do a search for his posts....

Sound a bit strange that a gearbox designed for a 150Bhp car is being used on a 180Bhp one, surely this is beyond is design limit. Could there be a chance that the one in the RS is different to the Golf and that a Golf one was fitted when it first went and just wasn't up to the job.

What type is used in the 225 TT and Cupra ?

Many people have modded the Rs & ffelans is the only one I have heard of that blew a diff & his car was rumoured to be pushing out about 300 bhp & did an awful lot of track use & hard track use so my guess is theres something else wrong with your car. When the dif was replaced did they use genuine new Skoda bits ?

Also you normally kill clutches long before diffs, how many clutches have you replaced

as far as i knew the same diff/flywheel/gearbox for vRS, 5 speed TT's etc but the 225's use the 6 speed box.

I managed to break a diff on my Golf, it was replaced under warranty no problem.

Is your car lowered? My Golf was running coilovers but standard power when the diff broke.

Never had diff problems with mine either and that had a hard life (>11,000 track miles).

Someone else with a red one also blew a diff and/or a gearbox on their old black one, but that was 100 shot of NoS related :D

I believe there is also another red one running around with a blown diff, but that is running approx 350+ bhp.

Just how much power are you putting through yours?

When i bought it there was a printed sheet of a rolling road saying my car is 225bhp i raced a rs octavia before just to see was it a 225 bhp and i left it along with a 2L type R civc.

Many Octy 1.8Ts on here are running 225+ hp without any transmission problems.

Thanks for your input i cant understand what happend but a lot of people are saying to me that the 225 Audi TT has a 6 speed gearbox and the 5 speed gear box is not able to handle 225 bhp what do you think?
