Seat Cupra TDI

Featured Replies

Looking at options for my next car, and stumbled across this..

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1893411.htm

Considering i'm looking to spend 5-5500 on a car, would it be a good investment, replace with hybrid, remap and off we go ????

Or avoid ?

Awaiting more info from the seller as to any other damage, so might not be just as straight forward as that.

Thoughts ??

That's a bargain, buy it before I do!

i'd guess a grand maximum to get turbo sorted, assuming this is same engine as the vrs fabia? i'd say go and have a good look, maybe take a mechanic to verify any problems and find others! is it normal for a turbo to go at such low mileage or is it a sign the cars been ragged about, or not cared for if its gone such low miles

That looks sweet. If its got any service history then its got to be worth a punt?

you'd want to know why the turbo died, if it's due to low/wrong oil then you're potentially looking at a new cam etc as well but even with a new (standard) turbo and the cam kit you're still looking at a Cupra for more like vRS money

If the damage isn't too bad, I'd say go for it

A mate of mine had one of these. It was quick as standard, but when he had it mapped...fast isn't quite the word. :D

See how cheeky you can get with the price as well. I know its a fair price but there's no harm in asking, is there

I saw this. And promptly clicked on the next one along :D

Maybe you're braver than I Johnny. My concern lies with why it went pop in the first place. And what else it's affected.

Certainly cheap though. But it's only truly cheap if you can cover all the possible problems and still be ahead ;)

I've never heard back from the guy, so i'll not be going for it.

For the price that the TDI Cupras are going for, i'd say depending on whats wrong you could probably be ahead, but i neither have the time, or knowledge to do it myself, so not eceonomical for me if it's an unknown cause type of failure.

However the petrol Ibiza Cupras are at a nice price at the moment...tempting :)

It will be a head off job as well to check for metal bits sucked into the combustion chamber. £2 to £2.5k should make it worthwhile.

Yep, that got me thinking as well! You could have a lot of fun in that, especially with a bit of easy tweaking...

But then my sensible cap came back on again - price of Super, economy as you'd be driving enthusiastically everywhere :dull: - so either I need to earn more, stop being tight, or for the British public to stop being screwed on fuel prices. Achieving any of the above would be good :)

I know what you mean Steve.

The only reason i shifted the Octy was to get 2 economical cars for myself and swmbo.

She's got a Swift now, and if i went for a Petrol Cupra, i cant imagine it being any different to the Octy in running costs.

And i really dont think i want another Fabia, unless it was something with a great spec and different.

I had sort of arranged with another member about buying their Fabia, but they've gone quiet lol
