HTC Desire 2.2 update is now out :)

Featured Replies

Update has surfaced, downloading now :)

Yippeee!

I've been resisting installing an unofficial Rom for ages now.

Unfortunately, my phone is O2 branded. Well, it has an O2 startup splash screen, wallpaper, and ringtone installed. All very important, not. :wonder: O2 have quoted "several weeks" before the update will be released. What a load of crap, who wants their ringtone and O2 splash screen anyway??

Will be debranding later. :D

Its good... MUCH better on battery!

I am however interested in what the HTC definition of "itunes sync" that they say is part of the official rom..

Still waiting for 1.6 for my Hero. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Update...how what where when :giggle:

Or where do I find it ...please

Update...how what where when :giggle:

Or where do I find it ...please

IMPORTANT NOTE!

Make sure you have either a fully charged battery or battery with at least 75% charge to ensure it has enough power to do the update.

Then...

Settings About phone System software updates Check now OR Menu All Apps Settings About phone System software updates Check now.

Download it via either a Wi-Fi router or USB link to your computer, unless you have a very generous data tariff, it's a 90MB download & takes about 2-3' to download & about 5' to install.

Leave it completely alone once the process starts, once its finished it maybe a little wobbly at first & do a odd reboot on its own, that's fine, if it's still wobbly (video playback) turn off, leave 30s then turn back on & it should be fine, mine was like it & now it's fine and faster! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Also been running Froyo for a while now but have just downloaded the rooted version of the official release.

The main reason for using a rooted version is so that I can use the old apps2sd as the froyo version of this is rubbish!

Just tried out the cloud to device plug in for chrome and it's pretty cool. Just need to wait for more apps to support this tech as it's a pretty good idea that seems to work well.

The only appointment really is the 720p video recording... the frame rate is rubbish and the sound is still terrible!

I too am curious to see what this "itunes music sync" is going to be all about!

Does the update remember ALL your settings etc when you install it?

The T-mobile G2 branded version is on 2.1

Still nothing available officially on the System Update for Milestone. I'll have to stay on lowly 2.1 update1 for the moment then, unless I can be bothered to go hunting for other ROMs...

Have a hunt around Steve.

Rooting methods seem to be getting easier every time... I used the one-click method for my Desire and it worked a charm. Then got ROM manager to partition my SD card for me.

I installed the new version yesterday and ended up having to wipe. Time from wiping and installing the new ROM and having all apps back and settings to how I like: 25 mins!

The T-mobile G2 branded version is on 2.1

Hmmmm. How blind am I being?! Any chance you have a link to it pleeeeeease (no worries if not)? I can't find it anywhere.

READ MY POST, IT TELLS YOU! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

It will only offer it to you if your phone is unlocked (Not locked to a network). If it is then you'll have to wait.

System software updates isn't in there, T-Mobile being restrictive.:( Was the same on my previous T-Mobile K800i, and Samsung U900.

Only got Status, Legal Info and System Tutorial (and stuff like model No, Kernal version etc).

*Edit*

Found it, just seems me and many others are struggling to get it to install - it just fails repeatedly. Have to set the date forward before it'll even register the update exists, then it fails anyway. Well done T-Mobile.

Like I said the upgrade is only available to those users who have unlocked phones, basically if like me you don't want to be tied into a contract of 18-24 or more months, then you buy the phone outright, without a contract.

You can then go to a service provider (O², T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange et al) and ask them for a 30 day sim only deal, which is what I'm on with Vodafone & for £15pcm I get 300 mins (never use more than 45!), 3000 txts (never more than 50), 500Mb of Web access.

It may seem excessive for what I use but I can't get any lower for what I want.

If at the end of the day, I want to change providers I just give 30 days notice & I'm free to move on, I can also, if there's limited/no coverage in an area, switch sim cards & use a PAYG sim to ensure coverage. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

You could always root your phones and de-brand them and be able to get the update?

Many users doing that.

My phone that I got through three is actually an unlocked/de branded handset!

Phil

My Milestone is a standard handset, bought through Expansys. So it's never been tied to a contract or provider. So I thought I'd have been able to get it direct with no problem.

Ah well, can't really be bothered mucking about with this one. And it's not as if 2.1 is curtailing my phone usage....

Cheers,

Steve

Android 2,2 isn't available for the Milestone yet! Give it a while I'm sure Motorola will get round to it soon.

You need to install the 1.5 update from the HTC site dated November 2009 first, then upgrade.

The ROM tmobile hosted doesnt pass the checksum, which is why the 1st update doesnt work.

Oh, and have a wait until Sept for the tmobile 2.2.

That'll be why then. Like I said, not really that fussed :)

It'll appear when it's good and ready, I'm sure...
