What is maxidot?

an instrument cluster enhancement, its well worth the money considering it improves the appearence of the dash and allows you to alter some or the cars settings which without maxidot will need to be done by a dealer.

Try the search function, this must be asked once a day!

Basically its the trip computer screen between the tacho and speedo, it offers display of nav instructions, audio etc and allows adjustment of options fitted (coming home lights, xenons etc)

Makes the dash look a little nice IMO (fitted as standard on DSG FL cars)

I fail all the time with the search.

Would it really be worth my while putting it in a basic spec mk2? Don't have a trip computer or anything like that.

there is a lot of posts about this on the forum. However simply put it's an enhancement to the normal "trip" computer that has a higher resolution dot matrix display (lots or MAXI dots....). It allows you to customise settings on the car so allarm acknowledgement, Hi-hijack, comming home lights. etc.

Lots more where this came from....

recent Maxi dot post here.

I wouldn't say it worth the money, We've used the one on My GF A3 ones in 9 months to set the doors to unlock all at the same time, so I dint bother going for Maxidot on my VRS and btw the look of the dash is no different.

Depends on what age the car is, pre-fl cars without maxidot look a lot different as they have a half height green screen instead of the full size black panel that the FL cars have got...

Fitted as standard on all DSG FL cars or just VRS? I ask because it's was not standard on my FL (59 plate) DSG Elegance. Perhaps Skoda have woken up to the fact that maxidot is desirable for proper operation of some optional extras eg xenon lights.
