Im looking at buying an 2008 08 octy vrs 2.0t fsi. Im with first insurance currently and my policy is with equity red star. First have said equity wont insure me.

Im 26 but have 6 point on my license an sp50 and a cu80 - first have said a rough quote with 6 points declared is £1300

is this about right for someone in my position?

I am going to ring sky,chris knott and adrian flux but need to find the dates i got the above offenses.

Does any one know of any other insurers to try ?

I'm pretty sure you can still use Compare The Meerkat with 6 points, have you tried them?

The dates you got the offences should be on your license...

And yes, you can use the comparison sites with 6 points on your license (I did)

The killer may be the cu80, a lot of insurance companies really don't like that offence, some won't even quote or will just put the premium so high that no one would ever pay the that much...

CU80 = Using a mobile or am I wrong?

Not big and not clever, but you'd think it would be fairly trivial in insurance terms.

cheers for the reply, yes cu80 is using a mobile phone, it was a mistake to answer it on an a road but i did most expensive 15second call of my life.

I have the dates now as i cant find my paper part to my license - I asked my current insurer for the dates.

Also the 3 groups affilated with briskoda adrian flux,chris knott and sky - they offer discount if your a freedom member but i cant find my membership number. my paid subscriptions just say its untill december 2010. Any ideas where to find my freedom membership number i cant seem to find it in my account.

lol no, on that day i never had my hands free headphones you get with your iphone! as far as im aware they dont do a hands free kit for the iphone unless you get one of them bluetooth ones which attach to your sun visor.

just need to find my freedom number now

May be going off track here but have you thought about going #&*£~# (Diesel) (cough...... had trouble saying it let along typing it ...sorry) VRS to get do the insurance down a couple of groups? and then get it remapped ........

Any bluetooth kit that doesn't use the rSAP protocol will work with the iphone, get a bluetooth earpiece for a tenner from the local supermarket if nothing else just in case... If you want to add one to the car, then there are several from Parrot, Bury etc that will work fine with the iphone

I don;t think you have a freedom membership number anymore... I don't remember seeing one, I guess the insurance companies will just check with the site mods to make sure you have freedom membership...

BigC i checked that thread and im B61 so im low risk cheers for thread though. the cheapest ive found so far is ecar at £943 of gocompare

im 25 but with a clean license and was struggling with reasonable insurance, in the end tried aviva and got insured for about 620 quid so i would say try them and see what you get back

It means they look at it on a case by case basis, normally means it's a high risk area though

I did have a freedom number but since it changed to the new site i cant find it. but Sky insurance have quoted me £840 fully comp with protected ncb cheapest ive had considering most ppl were round £1300 and highest £2000. 3 points come off next year

@Spanner28 you MUST try Sky Insurance tell them your a member on Briskoda.net and you get 20% off ya policy, so i'd like to see what Sky offer you with a clean license as im 26.
