Trackday Helmet / Intercom

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm just starting out doing trackdays and have purchased Sparco CLUB helmets and the RALLY intercom system.

Being the donut' that I am, how the hell do you fit the intercom into the helmet. I can figure the ear piece but how do I fit the michrophone? It has a hole at one end and comes with a screw, but the helmet does not have a 'corresponding' hole to screw the mic into?

Have I missed something simple?

Please help

thanks

John

Do you not have the gromets on the outside of the helmet like this one?

YES, but they are connected to the headstrap inside. ???

Hmm, I'll go and have a look at my helmet in a moment, (ooer) I have a Sparco Pro Jet, come to think of it I may have 3 gromets.

Two ticks.

Yep It does have 3, 2 strap retainers and an intercom post, looks like you may have picked an incompatible one :(

You can see mine modelled by my wee one here, the 3rd one is a white gromet,

mmmmm, that's what I'm thinking, although when I bought it I did ask if they were compatible and I was told yes they were. Have been thinking about the Pro helmet, as you say it's got the three holes, but it's another £150 per helmet, only paid £95 each for the club, only use it occasionally for track days, so really can't justify the extra money really.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply anyway.

John

It's an odd thing to buy when you haven't done any trackdays yet, I would off thought the money would be better spent on better brakes, suspension and tyres. You might not even like going on track.

His signature suggests he has already done those

You are correct, already done all those, and yes I've already done some track days, and YES I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Being honest, in a track fabia I have never really needed comms if you need to talk then you can, its when you get to sprints and hillclimbs etc. with a fully stripped out cherry bombed motor then it gets difficult.
