Will be picking up my Elegance 110 TDI tomorrow, trading in 1.6 Leon.

Anything I should watch out for good & bad, decided on the oil burner due to 60+ miles a day commute so wanted better economy. On the face of it TDI drives better than 1.6 Leon.

Watch out for oil consumption early on. There's been a couple of posts regarding this. Mine has drunk about 3 - 3.5 litres in 22k (almost exactly a year). Otherwise, have fun. The torque makes it an incredibly flexible car to drive, especially on motorways/fast A roads. 50-90 in fifth is achieved surprisingly quickly (although I'm sure the RS and 4x4 boys will tell you nowhere near as quick as theirs).

I found my 110 TDi Quattro A4 a good drive with the same engine as yours.

It had a Hopa module on it (Bromleys do a similar one for the 110) which added to the pleasure as you could adjust it to suit your style. Gave 135/140bhp and bang on 20% more torque

You should watch out for your photo being taken. 70mph in 5th is 2400-2500rpm, and my TDI likes to cruise at 3000rpm which equals a a naughty ninety (theoretically !) - Enjoy .

Though if you're reading that off the speedo and it's as innaccurate as everyone elses,

then it's low 80s...so you should get off with a warning...

Yup,

I did the Ch 16 thing at a steady 100 km/h and it was indicating 87/88 on the climate readout. Big difference.

I seem to recall the Ch16 is a slightly high too, Denis made a post on it comparing GPS to

Ch16 to speedo...can't remember exactly as some of us just have bog standard dial

aircon!

Denis may have done so, but I did too.

I'll spare you the details, but my channel 16 was 5% under GPS speed (or the gear ratio/wheel circumference math trick), while the speedo 5% over.

But I'll repeat: that's my channel 16...

Mine reads LOW too.
