Stripped vRS

Featured Replies

having seen another vRS in the latest redline the bloke's has had the rear seats removed, i know one of the best parts of the fabia is how practical it is, but has anyone on here done this? and is there much of a difference?

cheers

I took them out for the couple of tracks days i did last year

No rear seats combined with removing the spare wheel and tool kit lighten the back end up quite a bit.

Add a Jabba RARB and you endup with "interesting" on the limit handling on a damp track in October :D

I know that jonny5ive has his car almost completely stripped out but i'm sure he'll be along shortly to blow his own trumpet

I run mine without back seats and spare wheel all the time now. Just put the spare in for longer trips. Helps generally with handling, etc, but also fuel economy as a lighter car needs less fuel to run it ;)

I took mine out for a week to clean the seats properly, and to have a little test.

Basically I ended up putting them back in, if you like road noise and rattles then get rid, you can notice a very slight difference in how it handles, but not a massive amount. After years of owning a classic mini, I want comfort these days, so they will be staying in for the daily drive!

1. I don't own a trumpet Clifton!!

2. Yes it's stripped, only the headlining, dash, front seats and door cards left. :o

It's my daily drive of an 80 mile round trip. Yes it's noisy but it's great fun.

Very light on the back end under heavy breaking but you get used to it :giggle:

Plenty, i more than one of 'em needs a lift then tough!!

Besides, having a stripped out car is a great deterrent against SWMBO driving it and adjusting everything :D

I know chris with the SE on here run`s no rear seats all the time. I was dubious at first, however, i took them out for a week, along with the boot carpet, what a difference! Much louder, can hear the exhaust much more, and all the little stones pinging off the bottom of the car. Handling wise, car feels so much more nimble, it doesnt transform it, but it certainly takes a bit of getting use to. I had to put mine back in, however, now i have another car, they are coming back out!

I took the back seats out of my old Skoda completely - but only temporarily to make the capacity larger. Can't remember what for now but even with the squabs removed I didn't have enough space. The smaller section readily unclips but you need a spanner for the larger one owing to the seatbelt mounting (from memory).

i started to strip my old car out... but got a little too loud emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
