Wipers on New Octavia

Featured Replies

I seen the positioning of the wiper arms on the New Octavia today, I can see these getting damaged very easily. You can't actuall lift them up unless you have them in some sort of service mode ie they will hit off the bonnet.

Just think of people putting leaflets under them or the guy that goes to wash your windscreen at traffic lights. I think its a bit of a design flaw. Anyone know of a reason for it ?

Problem is the damage will be done before they realise. I went to lift it up to check out the wiper blades, only because I was careful I didn't do any damage.

All down to getting better air flow over the car l would think

Just got new Octy. It tells you about the service mode in the manual for changing wiper blades etc. The arms move from the park position to a point higher up the windscreen so you can lift them then.

its all to do with the endcap crash testing, pedestiren freindly, think i spelt it right, and also helps with aerodynamics.

Same on this ruddy C5 crappy french thing too. Pig to wash the screen properly, 'cus you can't lift them up. Only other option is to put them on and whip the ignition off mid wipe. Mind you this french heap sometimes mystically does half a wipe and stops anyway.

Can I have me Ford Anglia back now please. :D

Dad's new MkV golf is just like this too! :grumpy: Not my car so I really don't care too much. :)

If it's any consolation, my Laguna sometimes decided to park its wipers halfway up the screen as well. Despite changing everything, probably down to the fuel filler cap, the dealer couldn't sort it.

But hey ho, on the bright side I got rid of it and bought an Octy. Every cloud....

I'm sure your dad's great. In fact, if he can build a decent Laguna then I'd like to meet him! Pierre and the rest of the bampots that built my last one seemed to struggle somewhat....!

The Peugeot 307 is the same too!
