Irish Skoda Superb Finally Arrived

Featured Replies

Well Guys, I finally have it, Thats for all of your help in choosing the Spec of the car, In the end as its an ambition Spec i had to go for Black alacntara as cream was no longer an option, arrived last week so no free umbrella for me!! :(

As its an irish ambition spec it came with Dimming rear mirror, Dimming and heated electric wing mirrors, bolero, Alacantara interior, All of the chrome strips

I did get the following extras put on

17" Trifid Alloys

Full Size Spare

AFS Bi Xenon System

Boot Protector

MDI

Sports Tailpipe! (Its doesnt look like a 1.9! :) )

Colour is Platinum Grey (Steel Grey)

A few issues from the factory, Steering wheel is off centre since delivery, Dial to adjust the brightness of the cockpit controls does nothing, gear stick head loose and spinning

A few issues with the Bolero and Iphone MDI, Mainly when it goes to the next track it doesnt change the display on the bolero, I think this may be an iphone issue though

NO Issues with the Iphone and Bluetooth Handsfree

Thanks all, I'm very happy with it and I find the 1.9pd fine for the size of the car

Very nice.

Had a call from the dealer today...the greenline my wife ordered and the same colour as yours will be ready for collection next week...not bad since we only ordered it last sunday !!

Nice one Skodanut!, Bit of advice, before you pick up the car ask the dealer to price the sports tailpipe installed, it changes the look of the car completly, mine was about 175 euro, worth every penny!

Yeah i did notice that the exhaust pipes were rather shiny and gave the rear end a bit of interesting look......but the car ive ordered is from mobilty, so basically its almost the same as yours...but at least it will have the rear spoiler...and like you say, that alone is enough to make it stand out from the rest of them. So although i will have the car for 3yrs i dont want to spend on anything apart from fuel .

Just an update for you all on how im getting on with my first skoda!

I love the car BUT my skoda experience is far from good so far

I brought it back to the dealer about thefollowing faults since delivery (Less than 30 days after collecting)

I think some of the replies are a bit naff, see what you think

Issue 1 - Steering wheel off centre by approx an inch (ill post a photo of it later)

Skoda Say - No its not, Its fine, we drove it and its straight!, I took the mechanic out with me and made him drive, he held the wheel straight and the car promptly drove left and nearly mounted a curb, He said that was NORMAL?????

Issue 2 - Front left drl failing then working then failing - Loose connection This got fixed

Issue 3 - Rather large screw loose in the footwell drivers side, Well skoda didnt say anything about that, in fact changed the subject twice when i asked about it

Issue 4 - Since delivery the right wiper is not working, the rubber appears rotten, It streaks the windscreen no matter what i do to it, Skoda say, Yes we can replace it but you will have to buy a new one!!!!(ON A CAR LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD!!!!!)

Advice / Feedback anyone??

It is sometimes possible to buy a second hand car where because of lazy adjustment of tracking the steering wheel is offset.

It is reasonable to expect the steering wheel on a new car should be straight when the car is tracking straight.

There are two possible reasons for this condition. It is possible that:

1) the track rod ends where adjustment takes place on the steering rack are adjusted unevenly. They should be of equal length. or

2) The steering wheel has been assembled onto the wrong spline on the steering column.

Neither condition is acceptable on a new car and your dealer should fix it under warranty.

However have a care when they agree to fix it. If the problem is uneven setting of the track rod ends, then they can readjust them quite easily. If the problem is that the steering wheel is on the wrong splines, then adjusting the track rod ends will remove the offset, but the track rod ends are now of uneven length. THis will cause unacceptable bump steering effects which can be dangerous.

Looks to me like quality control might be slipping a bit there.

Hope the factory aren't looking at a full order book and getting complacent.

Nice looking car, hope you get the faults fixed quickly and without cost to you.

Mark.

When i took delivery of my Superb Estate it, like yours had an off set steering wheel. I took it to the Skoda service center and they sorted it no problem.
