How did you get that info?

The Dealer told me it was waiting to ship and, knowing that they come through Emden, the Neckar Highway is the only ship due to come to the UK in the next few days.

(I got the image from www.marinetraffic.com ;) )

If you send a letter to him he'll have videos of you licking the stamp.

I can share them with you if you wish? I just kept them for my ..."private" collection! ;)

Very exciting. My Scout has also just arrived at Emden having been built this week (32) and beaten the flood factory shutdown. It'll be on the next boat. AIS is very impressive...

Thank God, I'm not the only one out there following the progress of my car in minute detail :giggle:. My wife keeps giving me weird looks and muttering "nerd, train spotter" under her breath. Funnily enough the ship that will carry my car to me has just pulled into Bremerhaven, just a bit further up the coast from Emden. It sets off tomorrow on a slightly longer voyage than yours, one of about 5 weeks via Le Havre, Southampton, North America, Panama Canal, Tahiti and into Auckland, NZ on the 22nd Sep.

This post has just enthused me to have a Google street view of Grimsby docks :giggle: don't know when the shot was taken but I noticed what looked like a separate compound containing a fairly large number of Octavia II (pre FL) vRS hatch and estate and a handful of VW commercials. Some looked like they had LE wheels and all were in anthracite My link

What is the white stuff they put on the upper parts of the cars while they are in transit? Presumably some sort of protective coating, but why only apply it to the roof, bonnet etc? Why not protect the whole vehicle?

Hi Simon,

it's a heaver duty plastic cling film type material, also stick little bits of foam on the corners. Some cars appear to get more covered than others from what I've seen.

Factory flood shutdown, what? My Scout is due to be built week 36 should I be worried?

Ordered a Octavia VRS at the end of May and it's due in the country this week, can't pick it up until the 1st Sept though.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just received a phonecall to say that I can collect my Scout from the dealers from 6th September onwards!
