Missing options

Featured Replies

I was thinking today which options the Fabia should of had im my opinion (some of these maybe available but i couldn't find) and I'm wondering what others thought the car was missing.

My list

- auto power folding mirrors (would of been a god send as im sick of doing it myself)

- auto lights and wipers (oct has them as an option so why not the fab)

- xenons

- dab radio

- walk home lights (either auto or manual) - could this be activated by vagcom maybe?

- boast gauge (sad i know but like it on the focus st)

I think , unless they ever get round to building a Fabia L&K (I have no idea why they dont) , I doubt you will see any of those options on the car - as for the boost gauge , I cant see that ever coming as standard , so it will have to be aftermarket.

My wife's trading in her current style 56 plate Corsa Design which has auto lights and wipers as standard for a FL Elegance. The auto lights is the one thing missing that we would have liked again, although not so bothered with the wipers as we found those a bit 'hit & miss'.

Would also like to be able opt 'down' on alloys as we live in a fairly rural location and large diameter ultra low profile wheels and tyres give poor performance in winter weather. With our Yeti for example we have had to resort to 16" steel wheels with winter tyres for the fist time as the 17" alloys with 225/50 tyres are very poor on frost/ice or snow covered roads. Although they obviously look good in the SUK car park in Milton Keynes

Yeh would just be cool to have say a small display on the maxidot. Actually dump that idea I don't want it looking like the inside of a chaved up corsa

Ben, my Fabia 2, level 2 has the 'walk home' or 'see you home' lights as do all of the level 2's and 3's pre-facelift. These are operated manually just before taking out the ignition key. They switch themselves off of course at whatever predetermined time you have set them too. I'd be surprised if yours doesn't have them too, are you sure they are not there nestling amongst the myriad of pushy and pulley things?

Would love the auto folding mirrors.

Don't forget though, some of the options you list would cost mega bucks and would put the price of the motor up considerably, but I guess that's not too bad if they are just that, 'options' so we could pick and choose.

My 500 has CHL as a hidden feature, dont know if the Furby is the same,

Stop car

Take key out of ignition

Flick headlight stalk to activate ( each flick is 10 seconds up to a max of 1 min )

Anyone tried this with the Furby ?

Yeah, that's how it works on the Fabia's. It brilliant! I like the parking light feature too that lets you put whatever side parking lights on that are appropriate for the siutation. In fact, the car is full of stuff that I seem to find by mistake. I'm scared to touch the front seat hydraulic pumpy up thingy in case it's an ejector seat as well!!

I never knew the Fabia had those headlights... but then Ive had them on my Fiat Panda from 2004 and my 500 and never used them :|

I just wish you could buy a new car with no extras at all, but with better quality plastics and seats etc. Im happy without aircon/electric windows etc and all those driver "aids" we have to pay for.

I'm sure the car does monitor boost pressure, it surely wouldn't take too much coding to add it onto the maxi-dot just to give you a PSi readout.

I agree with auto lights and wipers, it would be nice to have these as would xenons but I'm sure they'd be a £700 option and how many people would opt for the xenon option over the standard?

Stuff paying £700 for Xenon's as a factory fit item. Just spec the car with the adaptive lights/washers and then put a light kit in afterwards, much much cheaper way.

I'm sorry to be dim but I can't get this facility to work on my 58 plate Fabia 2 estate. I tried turning off the ignition and flashing the headlights once from the stalk before pulling out the key and then getting out and locking the car. I also tried turning off the ignition and pulling out the key and then flashing the headlights once before getting out and locking the car. Nothing happened for me on either occasion.

Am I being stupid and doing something wrong?

Cheers.

I am yet to try it myself but you may need your drivers door open

Virgo, I've only used mine a couple of times last winter so my memory of doing this is a bit naff. I'm not near my car manual at the moment either...but I seem to remember you must have the headlights and engine on or at least the ignition key in a certain position before you pump the indicator switch towards you. One pull towards you keeps the headlights on for 10secs or so and everytime you pull the lever it adds another 10 seconds to the lights on time. If yours are not working they need to be activated. Your dealer will do it for you as these should have been activated at the factory. JUST DON'T TOUCH THE EJECTOR SEAT especially if you don't have a sunroof!!!

Thanks Estate Man. I've tried it every which way so maybe it isn't activated. I'll see if Fatbloke can get it working. I've scoured my owners manual and can't see any mention of this facility.

Still at least I got the touring headlights to swap kerbsides on my new 1.6 TDI CR by following the procedure in the manual. Very handy as we take our cars to Spain frequently and it will save buying Eurolite deflectors any more.

Same here. I did a bit of reading it appears that it is available on the Octavia upwards and is linked in with the auto lights function

That's really odd lemon. The brochure shows them as standard on yours as they are on mine. I guess SUK altered this option at some point. But I bet it is easily activated on yours, but may be not the facelift models. Have you checked your car owners manual on this?

I havent looked in the maual yet, I will do at some point if I remember as its not something I would ever use.... the lights that is, not the manual!
