drivers door module

Featured Replies

hi guys just a couple of questions oct vrs 04

the drivers door module appears to have packed up trade mark rusty pins on the drivers door module.

the drivers door central locking and electric door mirror have both packed up ive been in touch with skoda they said they have to do the job i cannot do it myself and have quoted me £160+vat for the part and £60+ vat for labour does this sound about right and why do skoda have to do it will the new module need to be programmed ?

when is the cam belt due ? (is it just mileage related or is there a time factor to)

thanks

ps thank god for forums like this

i take it you didnt need to get it programmed ?

how much did you pay for the part ?

thanks

I put a second hand unit in. No programming required but it will log faults that can be cleared with vagcomm.

Timing belt is due every 60k or 4 years.

Try cleaning the pins, dis-connect the battery (first making sure you know the radio code!)

Probably just dodgy connections.

If the central locking is still playing up, you can replace the module yourself, it's a bit of a job, but not too bad., I did mine a couple of weeks ago, you'll see how it's done here:

ive tried to clean the pins but 2 of them have completely gone the link you posted was for the door lock not the modul i hope or im looking in the wrong place

how much is it to get the cam belt done reason im asking cos ive owned this car from new and i can no longer drive it as it hurts my back (its only done 40k) and i was looking to get these bits done to sell it

Do you really like the c.ar? If it's only the seats that are bothering you it's worth looking at seats from a different car as loads of seats will fit

The actual lock change (the bit the key goes in) is a 5 minute job. The link posted was for the central locking/door latch module. The door latch, dead lock, central locking mechanism, and door opening sensor are all contained in the box of tricks shown being changed in that link.

If the pins in the door connector are corroded that badly, sounds like there's your problem. I'd concentrate on that.
