Sounds like fan/pump running on when engine switched off

Featured Replies

I have a Fabia 1.9 TDi diesel estate which will be 5 yrs old in September with just over 60000 miles on the clock. Over the last couple of months I had noticed what I thought was the cooling fan running on for a few seconds after I turned the engine off .So the other day I opened the bonnet before turning the engine off. The cooling fan was not running turned the engine off and what sounded like a fan/pump running was coming from the back of the engine. Wonder if anyone might have any idea what it could be. What's worrying me is it seems to be taking longer for the sound to stop when I turn the engine off. The car is running great just don't like strange noises, it worries me :)

It's the vacuum control box supplying vacuum for the anti shudder valve during shut down. Lasts about 5 seconds, and is normal.

Thanks MoggyTech thanks for the info at least I know what it is now. Was obviously there before I just must not have noticed it. Joe
