thats pukka apart from that intercoole pipe looks gash

this is what i was going to do to mine but in a vrs im not sure its cool

in a mk1 or mk2 golf then yes yes yes yes yes looks the dogs

do it rob

I really like it.

Liking the wiring on the fuel rail and have seen this done before.

Just got hold of the following for when i get time (maybe over the winter):giggle:

Rocker cover

Throttle body/intake

and loads of replacement silicone hoses 3mm-8mm.

agreed DO IT!!

I would change the intercooler pipe, swap the brake servo hose so it was routed to an outlet under the manifold so it's even cleaner, and maybe coloured or aeroquip hoses

Haha :)

I'm tempted to do some of it, but not to this extent. The yanks remove everything - battery, washer reservoir, aircon systems, heaters, all sorts!

It's quite cool to lose the rad expansion ball, relocate evap system and tuck wires away, thinking about doing that.

Maybe relocate power steering filler.

But not the washer bottle - that's kind of a legal requirement I think! And I like clean windows.

And the battery has to stay put. No point losing space elsewhere just to have a big space under the bonnet.

It's a long an involved job though.

how did you manage to get a pic of my engine bay?? :giggle::rofl:

rob you can keep the washer bottle just use a smaller bottle and relocate under the scuttle pannel room for coolant and washer bottle under there

vac lines can be run from under manni and down the left of engine so cant bee seen and the fuel lines can be run to the back of engine so most of it wont be seen

i was going to go full hog but cars gone maybe on thenext one ;)

keep us updated

This is the best I've seen I think.

that is one awesome and time consuming engine bay looks the nuts!!

i shall have a read, see what he's got piped into the strut brace? B)

Don't forget how much room there is where the original SMIC was!

Washer bottle etc can be relocated in many places.

Yeah I love that. He's re-fabricated most of the bay, It's an awesome job.

There's a 90 page thread on the Vortex. Worth a look when you have time. It took him months to complete.

i did read that a while ago when it was posted before, it is the mutts nuts but not practical for daily drivers unless you clean the bay every day to keep the shine :wonder:

ill be going a different route, not super clean and polished, but tidy with a few choice mods and parts definatly B)

That's exactly what I have in mind. I don't have the patience to keep it as clean as that but tidying up a bit is definitely on the cards.

He said in the thread he drove the car something like 10,000 miles in a month between car shows :o

on a plus they've not chewed anything and the cars now in another spot!

weird thing is they've only been under my bonnet and non of the other 3 cars on site

I rather like this one..

OK not a 1.8T but mental none the less..lol.

Gay gay gay... I like a bit of tidyness, and cleaness, but those bays look like they've been given the Gok Wan treatment!

I did this pointless thing yesterday:

Next plan - I have some bits on the way to replace and tidy up that bright blue catch can pipework that I've never really liked the look of.

Don't worry I sorted out those kinks in the pipe after taking the pics :)

I really couldn't be bothered doing that, seems really extreme.

Mine just gets some cleaner on it and pressure washed every so often, just to keep it looking respectable,

Altho i did paint my engine covers when i had my volvo and changed a black boost pipe for a alloy one
