Front wipers fault...

Featured Replies

Please help...

Front wipers on my Octy are not going all the way up, they stop in the middle and stay there. They are very slow when moving. When I flick the switch again they go back down but not without my help.

Would it be the motor or a relay?

Most probably the linkage is seizing up. Have a search, happens lots

Sounds like the linkage has seized up....

Take out the linkage sand off the rust, pack out with grease and reassemble. I did mine 3 or 4 years ago and it has been fine since

I'm going to it this weekend. Thanks for your help guys.

You should be able to see the motor and linkages moving once the plastic scuttle panels are off (careful not be break them as they can get brittle with age). This should help pinpoint whether the linkages are seizing. Good luck

The seizing occurs where the spindles go up through the support bushes, rather the other joints in the mechanism, so not easy to spot.

Best bit is to take the wipers off, scuttle panel off, remove the linkage (3 torx screws, iirc), remove the circlips from the and drop the spindles out. You may need to remove the motor, if that is the case, mark things up otherwise you might get some dodgy wiper movement afterwards!
