why does nothing go as planned......

Featured Replies

Had a new dance stereo fitted yesterday under warranty, as i had a fault on the stream unit that was in my vrs.

The original plan was to have my double din pioneer unit fitted, but the reception was so bad on my stream unit, i thought it could be a aerial problem, and as i wanted it fixed before my pioneer unit went in, {didn’t want bad reception on my pioneer if it was a aerial fault} i took it skoda to have a look, turns out its not a aerial fault, it was a fault on the headunit, so they have replaced the stream unit with a brand new 'dance' unit as the stream unit is now obsolete.

The dance unit is slightly smaller than the stream unit, meaning they also had to change the chrome trim that fits around the stereo and climatic controls. The problem i now have is, because it is a slightly smaller opening {about 10-15mm} my fascia adapter will not fit the opening as it is to big..... i cant see any other way of making it fit unless i buy a new chrome surround from skoda and they are about £50 ! suppose i shouldn’t moan as i have a new dance unit, but my pioneer was always going in, just wanted the aerial fault fixing first, why does' nt anything go as planned ! Does any body have any ideas so i don’t have to buy the new trim?? :S

Do you still have the original surround that went with the Stream? Get it back from the dealer if not.

Put that back on with the fascia adapter when you fit the Pioneer. Simple.

rang dealer up, and they said, because it is a warranty claim, i would have to wait 3 months if skoda did'nt want the trim back, looks like i am going to have to buy the trim, cant wait 3 months.........why does nothing go as planned..... :S

Bloody hell.

A replacement surround shouldn't cost that much though. I picked up a replacement surround for Stream/manual aircon the other week for £5, so one for Stream/Dualzoneclimate should be comparable price.
