I've been thumbing through the forums and got dizzy with all the acronyms. VAG. VRS. DMF. DPF. VDS. Maybe I.m getting old. Would somebody translate please?

VAG Volkswagen Audi Group

VRS Victory Rally Sport

DPF Diesel Particulate Filter

VDS Volkswagen Diagnostic System AKA VCDS or VAGCOM

DMF = Dual Mass Flywheel

I know how you feel, when I was looking into getting a Leon I was baffled by the constant VAG specific acronyms which I then had to try and work out or admit defeat and look them up.

VAG=Volkswagen AG

DMF = Definitely Must Fail

VAG is a proper acronym but DPF is technically an initialism as you don't create another word from the initial letters :no:

VRS=very rapid Skoda

O/T( as it's not a VAG one)-but supposedly true .

Way back ,when the police were into getting a few blokes to the scene quickly ,they hit on the idea of using Minibuses -called Fast Action Response Transport - till someone reminded them of the acronym ..
