Retrofit TPMS

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Has anyone done this on a FL yet?

My understanding is that you need the switch and the loom that plugs into that switch, you have a hand full of wires for live, ground and illumination then one wire that either connects to the central electrics controller or the ABS/ASR controller?

So Im after knowing what wire goes where if anyone knows!

Many Thanks

BIG Nick :)

OT but do Skoda use the same system on all models?

I have seen this explanation  but wondered if it is the same on the Superb?

TIA.

I would believe that it is the same system.

As already said its nothing fancy just warns you if 1 tyre drops below the other 3.

Its more trouble than its worth , my son has it on his Seat Leon , he hit a pothole which burst the tire and slowly drove home light never went on , new tyre fitted drove 200 miles then light came on problem was determined to be a buckled wheel , new tyre and wheel fitted all ok , 5000 miles later tyre replaced on the other side , drove 200 fast motorway miles light came on ,reset the sensor as pressures were ok no prob since so -

did not detect totally deflated tyre

belatedly detected buckled wheel

belatedly detected new tyre

Not something i would trust

Interesting comments here, my TPMS actually came on the other day after I had inflated my rear tyres to a higher pressure for load carrying - only by a few PSI, so quite impressed that it was able to determine this !

Not worth retrofitting IMO. Just lures you into a false sense of security. Manual checks win everytime

For the sake of a few quid it's a nice addition while I do 95% motorway miles.

I agree I still check tyres and lights weekly, even tho the car tells me if a bulb is out.

anyone got any luck in retrofitting this on the fl octavia?

Thanks..

Thanks..

I fitted it a couple of weeks ago to a MK5 Golf (which the Octavia is based on) Eddie-NL may be your man to ask as he makes the looms and supplies all the bit's to retro fit them into a Golf.

Bit late in replying to this one :giggle: but it was invaluable when I picked up a puncture in my Superb, I do check my pressures regularly (and the TPMS should not be a substitute for doing so) but with 40 profile tyres (225/40/18) fitted as std it is difficult to see that a tyre is loosing pressure.

I've not had any issues with it. It has certainly picked up a couple of slow punctures.

But it's not worth going to a lot of hassle to retrofit.

I check the tyres once a week anyway.

Buy a little portable pump to keep in the car. Much more useful.

But it's not worth going to a lot of hassle to retrofit.

It's about an hour to do - the hardest job (on the Golf) was running the wire to the ABS pump it is that easy if you have some mechanical knowledge (oh and access to VCDS :giggle: )

well is there a guide on the installation somewhere? the tpms loom & button is available online for purchase,

so thats why was thinking of retrofitting it..

Thanks..

The coding would be different as the MK7 ABS doesn't have a long coding helper in VCDS ....Also I think for the skoda it's ABS pin 9

Works fine on mine. Detected a puncture, I assumed it was playing up as tyre *looked* OK. Checked pressure- 1 Bar. Had no false alarms.

It does a cracking job.

One false alarm in two years, the rest of the time it's been spot on, it detected a a nail in my tyre with only the smallest drop of pressure, which could have caused a blow out.

Do anyone have retrofitting TPMS guide for Skoda Octavia (1Z) plz ??????

What exactly do you want to know?

You'll need the button and wiring loom and VCDS to activate it.

Wires need to be connected to an earth, another button for illumination and the ABS controller. This last one needs to run through the bulkhead behind the glovebox.

Before you start, check what ABS controller you have as not all are compatible (but 2007 should be).

Search this forum as I found (almost) all the info that way. The rest I gathered by asking specific questions.

hiya and thank you for your replay

iv got 2009 skoda octavia 1.9 tdi i read some forms about this upgrad but there all showing vw`s so this what i would like to know

is there retrofiting kit ?

if not what are the parts i need to buy?

and where do i connect them to e.g the pins numbers?

i have the ross tech vcds

skoda are a new thing for me as i have always owned a done upgrades on toyota

It's basically the same on VW's as on Skoda.

There is also all the info you need in this forum as many (myself included) have added TPMS.

Eddie_NL has sold buttons & wiring looms in the past. Might be worth a PM.
