Query on updating Columbus firmware

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This is my first post so be gentle!

I'm wondering about how to upgrade the firmware on the Columbus unit on my Skoda Superb (58 reg). I only bought the car last week, so don't particularly want to "brick" the unit by trying the update myself. I understand about iso files etc. but I'm not sure I want to take the risk. Also, I don't know which firmware the unit currently has, or how I'd find this (despite looking online for info), but I'm assuming it's the original firmware that came with car at time of manufacture.

So, is updating the firmware something that Skoda dealers typically do if requested? I asked at the Skoda dealer where I bought the car, but they said they never do it and would simply return a "bricked" unit to Skoda HQ for fixing if necessary. Has anybody any experience of using a Skoda dealer in or around London to do this for them, and if so where?

Alternatively, is there anyone out there who does this on a regular basis who would be willing to update my firmware? I'm happy to pay the going rate (whatever that is), so long as you're confident you can do it without any problems.

Have to say, I'm loving the car so far!

Thanks in advance for all replies.

Declan.
