Air-con in glovebox

Featured Replies

The manual for my Skoda Superb (58 reg) says that I should have a lever in the glovebox with which to switch the air-con on and off (to cool or not to cool down the glovebox). However, all I seem to have is the hole for the air to come through - no lever. When I asked the service guy in my local Skoda garage to have a quick look today, he said "Lots of Superbs don't have it. If you did, you'd see it straight away. It's a little knob that you turn on and off." I told him that the manual described it as a lever (and quite clearly shows a diagram of a lever) at which point he said "Yeah, some came with levers, some with knobs and some with nothing". Now, unless Skoda had a very idiosyncratic production line, I'm assuming that all models would come with the same fixture. My model is an Elegance, and I would assume that it is supposed to have a way of turning the air-con on and off in the glovebox. The manual doesn't describe it as an option at any point.

But just to be sure: does anybody out there, with a new model Superb, not have this lever in the glovebox? I assume I'm being fobbed off, but I want to be sure before taking the matter further!

I have a base model Superb and it has a lever you slide open to cool the glove box.

Mine's got a lever at the top of the glovebox which you pull out. It's got a plastic rectangular knob on it that's got ' OPEN ' written on it. This plastic knob can be pulled off quite easily just leaving the lever behind.

As above slides in and out, don't pull too hard it will come right out of its slide, bit of a fiddle to replace.

Similar slide arrangement in my Superb. Great feature by the way in our warm climate.
