Boot wont open

Featured Replies

it seems my boot wont open now using the button above the numberplate, it doesnt seem to be doing anything. it was working earlier today and since i last shut it, nothing!

it does open if pushing the button on the keyfob but thats not really a solution.

i tried a search but didnt find anything so not sure if this is a common fault, but any ideas?? :S

If it works on the remote but not by the boot handle I would think the micro switch in the handle has gone faulty.

My son had a similar problem on his 03 Classic 6v which has the factory central locking pack option with power front windows. Doors would unlock but fairly regularly the boot failed to unlock. Belive he had to have a 'control unit' replaced might be the convenience unit?

hmmm i think i best take it to the garage unless it decides to start working again, maybe a loose connection lol

convenience unit sounds expensive!

and julie, i have those stickers done, you can pop in anytime for one.

Cool - if you're in work tomorrow we'll drop by. Can you PM me directions???

And if my boot lock packed in I'd be having a word with Graham up at West End  But for what it's worth the central convenience unit seems to be a common fault on Audis where the plenum chamber floods and the CCU, situated in the passenger footwell, suffers. Never heard of it in a Fabia before, so I'd still guess on a faulty habdle.

My wife had the same problem on her Mark 1 for years. The boot would only open AFTER one of the rear doors had been opened first.

Garage tried to fix several times and failed. Gave up in the end - it was not worth throwing more money at what was an irritant more than anything else.
