Petrol Vrs finally good mpg

Featured Replies

I can eke out just on 42mpg on a good run from newcastle up to Aberdeen with the cruise on and as long as the edinburgh city bypass is clear!

not to shabby at all for a 200bhp petrol engine!

I have just recently acquired my VRS TSI, and was suprised that on a trip through Leeds out into the moors (with lots of overtaking :)), then back through the city centre I managed 36.9mpg according to the trip computer. This was a LOT better than i was expecting, as my old car (a focus 1.8 TDCI 115bhp) would only manage 44mpg on such a trip.

keeping the revs between1500 and 2000 rpm helps and changing gear before 3,000 as its at 3,000 it starts to drink the fuel a bit more.

I run my pressures 32 front and 34 rear. I used to run them 35 all round but found this combination better for me. My car is stage 1 and I can easily get 38mpg on a run. My best so far is 40.3mpg, which for a car that produces about 240bhp isn't bad!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Best I've had is 45mpg...with a K04 and running 350(ish)bhp :D
