Battery removal/replacement...

Featured Replies

I've not needed to remove the battery on my (06) vRS yet, so I haven't done!

There are 2 other reasons why:

1) I guess I'll have to reset electric stuff, Radio, etc - but not entirely sure what - does it mess with the various 'options' settings e.g. door locking?

2) I've not figured out how to get the fuse carrier/connector block thingy off without breaking it! :S

Anyone who's well versed in this black art care to share the details, please? I could do with checking the steering fluid level....

If you want to preserve settings use a battery saver plugged into the ciggy socket. A spare car battery is ideal, but a small 12V battery car be used, but turn off interior light before you start the work.

Battery top fuse holder section is held in by lugs that fit into the battery tray, prise out with a long screw driver. You will need a long socket extension to get the battery clamp bolt out, bolt size is 13mm.

If your checking the PAS fluid, you will also need to remove the battery tray, and the air box as well.

Thanks for that Moggy.

I'll give it a go soon - not had a car with so many customisable options before! Before, all I've had to do is stick the radio code back in!

Need to reset one-touch window settings by running each front window up & down a few times.

Need to reset CD player code found in stereo manual (4 digit number)

Need to drive car for 5/10 minutes at random speeds for onboard computer to update from factory settings.

Above, if battery completely disconnected with no additional power source added. (not worth messing about with temporary power source really??)emoticon-0148-yes.gif
