Can't you use the std one? Is there no way of taking the top and gaitor off the std and putting it on the ebay one?

What's it like? Is it any good?

No the standard one wont fit as the quick shift is threaded . Also reverse is now "pull up" so it wont work as vrs knob too long. Is it any good? Not tried it yet as no knob, lol.

its awesome, i have one and its the same as the B&M one, a direct copy i think actually.

I have an ally threaded one i bought off ebay from a seller called lesbray, he does loads of vw parts, any threaded gearknob should fit however they can get expensive.

Its not the knob that lifts up so much as the actually sleeve that fits under the knob.

I did have my mk2 gti golf ball gearkob fitted on it for a while B)

Any pics of your knob (lol) ? I have a golf ball on at the mo off a mk1 golf but cant get reverse! Did yours come with a plastic sleeve and a grub screw ti hold it on?

I considered this, then went the Forge Quickshift route to keep the standard gear knob. The Forge one just replaces the throw at the gearbox end by replacing the bracket the cables attach to.

Still not sure on the gearchange yet....

although i rushed setting the cable linkage alignment up as it was peeing down with rain.

Richbrook do some of the best stuff. Just costs a bit :(

I started off with a leather/metal sort of thing. Didn't like it.

The one I came across is the metal ball thing like sweedish also fitted (we have the same short shifter fitted).

It was meant to go on my T25 Transporter, Here's the link to the veedubmachine item.

Goes with short shifter stick really well. It quite heavy, gives a really solid feel to the gearstick.

Needs to have bottom sawn off and polished up a little.

Whole assembly makes the car feel like your using a an old-school in-line gearbox with direct gearstick.

Starts off cold, but warms up after a little use :drunk: !
