Subtle modding suggestions required

Featured Replies

Since I gave up playing cricket I feel the need for a new hobby - and I'm thinking of subtly modding my Mk1 L&K but without going too far.....

Thoughts so far:-

S2000 aerial upgrade (bit concerned about reception with Symphony headunit though)

Headlight bulb upgrade so that main and side lights colour match Xenons

Chrome Bonnet grill painted black, plus possibly mesh it.

Under bumper grills replace with VRS items (providing they will fit standard bumper)

Interior light dome upgrade to LED

Reversing sensors

LED DRLs (but where to fit? emoticon-0138-thinking.gif )

The L&K already has some nice touches above the standard trim levels and I don't want to "pimp" it too much emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Any other suggestions?

Cheers,

Martin

Boot would be good, standard lamp is pants. emoticon-0149-no.gif

What's a ring sticker? Not sure I want a sticker on my ring? emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

Parking sensors is a great mod, fitted mine last week and they are really useful.

Other night i saw someone unlock a mondeo and there were lights under the wing mirrors, looked quite good

Aren't "puddle lights" (called boarding spots by Skoda), standard? Pretty sure they are on my MY2011 Octavia Scout, but as its on a ship at the moment it's hard for me to confirm :giggle: .

any info on what bulbs to get a bit more light in boot would be appreciated as boot light is awful - looks like a captive glowworm on mine !!!

skoda badges on the mud flaps. I've seen vw badges on some golfs, nice little touch.

BMW angel eye style lights, I'd love them for my Fabia!

Not convinced. They should stay on BMWs.

Have a browse around my website - might give you some ideas. I'm always tinkering!!

Really like your Mk2 DRLs. What supply did you connect to and how? Scotchlock or soldered joint or piggyback connector?

Back of the headlight switch.

Chopped the switched live and used crimp connectors:

To remove the headlight switch, with the switch in the "OFF" position, push in on the switch until you feel some resistance, and then, with the switch still pushed in, turn it clockwise, and pull it out.

The red/black wire is the switched live.

Did you just crimp the two wires (original and new) into the same ferrule?

Yep :)

You'll likely find the reception suffers with the stubby aerial upgrades. Also, to match the xenons, you've really got to use LED sidelights. I've got the blue vision ones in mine and despite being alot crisper than the standard bulbs, they still looks very yellowy next to the xenon.

Don't think the vRS grilles fit the standard bumper. Maybe switch the whole bumper over to a vRS one?

Not sure switching the boot light for an LED will make too much difference as it's also the placement of the light which makes it rubbish. Might be worth ordering some of those LED light strips off ebay to fit in the boot. Saw someone had done that and it threw a million times more light than the standard bulb. Just double sided taped underneath the parcel shelf supports so they were out of the way and wired into the boot light. What's more is they are like less than a fiver!

Ooo led strips sounds interesting might have a look at that!

I fitted a strip LED to my stealth shelf and wired it in to the light.

It's very bright and lights evenly across the whole width of the boot.

Mine was a whopping 99p from hong kong somewhere, theres a couple of pics of it fitted
