Wing mirror indicator clear cover

Featured Replies

We have a very tight alleyway next to our house we have to drive through and I managed to catch the wing mirror on the wall this morning, "luckily" the only bit that seemed to hit was the clear cover over the indicator, which has smashed.

Is there any chance I can buy this bit on its own, and if so, does anyone know what it's actually called?

Cheers,

Chris.

The clear bit of the mirror housing with the LED indicator is actually part of the entire mirror base, you can get this part from any Skoda dealer, you must specify whether or not it has the puddle lights in the door mirror or not as the wiring is slightly different (three wires vs two without).

IIRC the part is held to the mirror body with 2 Torx screws accessible when looking down on the mirror with the plastic housing removed. I have replaced 2 of these in the last 4 years or so and they are ok to DIY as long as you are careful with the mirror glass.

Thanks dstev, will probably be over at a dealers on saturday, will see if I can pick up the part then, doesn't sound too awkward to replace.

No problem

They aren't too bad to replace, just be careful when removing the colour coded mirror cover and when working around the mirror glass, I removed it when I did mine but that is down to preference as the plastic tabs that hold it in place can snap.

If you have a vRS you will want the housing without the puddle/boarding light.

£20 and same as VW polo if VW is closer

Easy job but unclipping mirror glass and housing always a nerve racking time.

Housing minus puddle light will be exactly the same as the VW Polo 9N3 2005>

Thanks, any tips on levering the colour-coded cover part off? Other than "be very careful". :)

Ta, have to go to Skoda to get other stuff anyway.

Nerve-wracking! Erk.

The garage owe me a favour anyway, might see if I can get them to fit it...

Quick question regarding wing mirrors on the FL vrs while we are on the subject. When i adjust the left mirror only the left mirror moves as you would expect, but when i adjust the right mirror both the left and right mirrors move! Im guessing this isn't normal and after 2 months i have just realised this is happening. I cant get to the owners manual at the moment to check so if anyone could verify that this isnt normal i would appreciate it?

Thanks

It's normal

think this is so you can lower both mirrors when parking and then put them back into the correct position for driving, only one button to do this ,not having to do the left then the right

I think????

within the maxidot menu you can change this - ie to keep both mirrors adjusting separately.

i prefer mine to work independently.

Ok slight update on this. Ordered the part from dealer, 18quid + vat, but the guy reckoned I'd need some mini wiring loom/adapter to fit with the replacement, which would be an extra fiver. Not paid for anything yet, but can't see why it would be needed.

Anyone have any ideas?
