Door jammed shut

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've saw a few threads on here relating to doors being locked shut (most often the rear ones) and the threads have had little response, well I'm afraid to tell you there isn't an easy or cheap fix (unless you're really handy about a car).

My rear passenger side door had been playing up for a while and refusing to open, if I opened and closed the central locking a few times it eventually opened, well it finally completely quit a few weeks back and with my MOT coming up I thought I'd best get it sorted.

It needed a new lock (£90) and the mechanic told me it was an absolute ****** to get the door opened and then swap the locks out (so £80 labour), and then add on the inevitable VAT and I'm £200 lighter.

So there you go, hope this helps (if help you can call it) someone out.

A non opening door is grounds for reusal to carry out the MOT test.

I have this problem at the moment, MOT in November so need to sort it shortly. Any ideas how they did manage to open it?
