Just a quick one can these cables and provided software of ebay read/clear codes and turn afew options on/off like locking after 10mph,i know theres no support on this from ross tech but dont want to invest 300quid+ and only use afew times also do they they crash when auto scan is activated as usb connection.

Some are hit and miss, if you have a CAN based car you will also need the pukka thing as the ebay jobbies won't work.

Has anyone tried the Ebay cables and got them to work?

I bought one due to it being cheap and I wanted to scan the car (one of these type... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VAG-COM-/330399696070?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4ced5b44c6)

It performs it's initial test correctly, but then fails to do anything else, including reading the DCTs. A full kit from Ross is simply out of my price range so had hoped

using this and the VCDS-Lite (which is free for home use and supports 3rd party interfaces) would work. The Skoda Fabia VRS '06 is a standard K-line/HEX

interface and not a CANBUS I believe, so might be the cheap interface (from China I guess).

Cheers.

Have a look at the feature list for VCDS Lite on the ross tech site.

This works with the generic cables, so if this can do it then it will do it if the cable works.

If the cable claims is will do everything, then it's an illegal clone and if it fails to work correctly you stand a good chance of messing your car up.
