Boost Gauge question

Featured Replies

ive fitted a boost gauge to my vrs, ive had them on previous petrol cars with no problem, however on gentle throttle the needle fluctuates really badly and buzzes quite loudly, i know they do the no buzz restrictors to put in line with the boost gauge, but i cant seem to find them anywhere to buy one, any advice anyone, or do other peoples do the same?

Whre have you taken the feed for the guage from?

From the allard egr bypass pipe

Mines the same mate, plummed in the same way

Ah right okay then, can the fluctuation be lessened by fitting a no buzz restrictor then or am i just gonna have to live with it, just find its not easy to read unless on full chat then its perfect

Oh, thats a shame as I was tempted to fit one to mine now all been modded and mapped. It would have been fitted in exactly the same way as yours too.

May have to think twice now... unless it will work differently with w remapped engine.

I've had my boost guage fitted for almost a year now and it's fed from my allard pipe. Absolutely no problems with it what so ever except I haven't wired the backlighting properly cos I couldn't be bothered lol

But no fluctuations or buzzing, and I fitted mines before my remap

Out if interest - Juego, how much did you pay for your boost gauge?

Same applies to Trevor

It came with my allard pipe mate. I bought them second hand

Search through my posts and you'll find a link to the boost guage I'm gonna buy shortly. Think it's about £30 but search eBay and you'll find some cheap ones on there

That's what i'm thinking. I bought mine off eBay for about £8, so it's a cheapo job. The noise in mine is the spring being a little bit happy I think. So maybe more expensive ones wouldn't do this?

have you literally just got the pipe plugged on to the EGR delete, and then straight to the boost gauge? Not used the T peice at all

what boost is everyone's guages saying out of interested?

My Racetech gauge (-1 to 2.5 bar) has never buzzed, etc and has always been a rock solid accurate gauge. Mine is currently mapped to 2.2 bar and the needle sits smack on 2.2. Mine is also fed from Allard power pipe and have been using that method for at least 4 years I reckon.

Mine does buzz a little the t-peice thing didnt make any difference to mine tbh but mine doesnt fluctuate tho :)

heres mine.

mine is the one allard supply with there kit the racetech one same as jason and sounds like the same one juego has too, cars been mapped too, runs 1.7 on full wack, its just annoying ill have to get a vid up to show people what its doing, i didint use the t piece either as there was no need

Mines is through a T piece off the allard feed

Mines is a savage guage I think so is a cheapo one. Mines reads psi, it goes to 28psi then comes down to about 24 after initial boot down

why the t piece though as theres nothing to link in to the feed??

One bit of T piece into the feed, one end for the pipe to feed the guage and just block off the other one. The T piece set up came with my allard pipe as I bought it all second hand

just buy an electric boost gauge

tried to do a clip to explain it, its on constant throttle and coming down the revs is the worst for the fluctuation and buzzing

I think it's just related to the poor quality boost gauge tbh. I'll get a vid of mine later when I get out of bed (been on nights)

Hello,

On reading the guide I found:

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/110597-guide-fitting-a-mechanical-turbo-boost-gauge-to-a-fabia-vrs-tdi/

the guy said to clamp the hose slightly, which theoretically kind of makes sense as this will dampen the effect.. maybe use a cable tie?

Ok my question.. I don't have an allard pipe, where can I find these brass male connector pipes to jam in the boost pipe? Im actually looking for a 90 bend one as it will be more neat with the car.

Found this: My link

But closest one they have is 1/4" by 1/4". Need a 1/4" (thread) to a 1/8" (vacuum hose)

Why dont you just get a No Buzz connector?

you said it from the begining the kit didnt come with one, and you are showing all the signs tht you need it.........
